Our trophy elk and bison hunts are conducted within a 3,000 acre high-fenced section of our ranch. These are 2 day hunts and no license is required. Our clients arrive day 1, hunt days 2, 3, and depart day 4. Elk hunts are done mostly in September during the rut, but some are done in November on a combination deer or bison hunt. You can use a muzzleloader, bow, or rifle. We have had a 100% success rate so far and most bulls will score in the 315 – 350 range.
Our bison hunts are done the first 3 weeks in September and November and the first week in December. Our trophy bison are 5 and 6 year old bulls. These bulls will weigh between 1750 and 2000 lbs. They have great genetics and are very large at a young enough age the meat is still excellent. You will get a great trophy without sacrificing the meat.
Our deer hunts are free ranging and a Nebraska state deer license and habitat stamp are required. These can be obtained over the counter or online for $195 for a non resident. We can assist you in the process of obtaining these. The season opens every year on the Saturday closest to the 13th of November. A deer license in Nebraska allows you to shoot either a whitetail or a mule deer and we have both on our ranch. Our deer hunts are conducted from ground blinds over food plots or spot and stalk.
These are 2 x 1 hunts (2 hunters per 1 guide) and there are usually 4 hunters in camp. If there are two or more in your group you have the option to hunt together. Otherwise we will pair you up with someone that will be as compatible as is feasible. There are seldom any problems with this method and it is always clearly spelled out in advance who gets the first opportunity, for how long, etc.
If you plan to fly in, please plan to fly into the North Platte, Nebraska airport. We will pick you up and provide all additional transportation required while you are there. If you are driving in please contact me for directions to the ranch.
You would stay in a large refurbished ranch house with all the amenities including wet bar, big screen T.V., hot tub, and internet access. The meals are fantastic, all home cooked steak, potatoes, salads, wine, etc.
Half down is required to book a hunt and the remaining balance is due 45 days prior to your arrival. You can book a hunt anytime as long as there is availability. If you would like to book please notify me before you send your deposit. Once I receive your deposit I will send you the paperwork consisting of a contract, liability waiver, and pre-hunt questionnaire. There are no hidden fees in the cost of your hunt. The only things the price does not include is meat processing, taxidermy, and Nebraska 5.5% sales tax.
We offer on-site meat processing at Dismal River Outfitters. Our butchers will cut, vacuum seal, and blast freeze your meat so you can take all of it home with you. Standard cuts (steaks, roast, burger) are done. Our butchers charge $500 for bison, $300 for elk, and $150 for deer.
Hopefully this information helps. If you have any further questions about booking please feel free to contact us any time.
